DITS Malaysia

I know it has been months since the happening, but I feel like I have to share this experience with all of you. 
So, months ago, September 9th to be exact, I got the chance to experience Dinner in the Sky. I found out about it a month before (August) from the ads on Youtube and I was attracted to it right away. I googled and checked on the website. It was expensiveeeeeeeeeee but I would go for it anyway. Simply because it's a one-time experience. Dining open-space at 45-50 meters above ground... Who doesn't want that?!

However, I was quite disappointed when I found out that all the seats were sold out. But they said that they might have it again so all we need to do is to leave our email. So, with high hope, I leave my email. Few days or a week later, I received an email that they will be back next month due to high demand. Within that second, I called my boyfriend and asked him to come for it.

One thing that I had in mind was what happened if it rains? Can you imagine how sad I would be? And another thing was that, from August to September, it was hazy months. So considering that this is outdoor and up in the sky event, what’s worse than eating in a hazy condition?
Long story short, on the 9th of September, the haze wasn’t so bad. It didn’t rain either. Lucky me? Hahaha
The 4-course dinner started with cold tomato and watermelon soup (if I’m not mistaken). And honestly, I hate it. I absolutely hate it. Not a big fan of soup and a cold soup doesn’t change that either.
The next one is beetroot salad with feta cheese (I guess…). I’m so bad at describing food lol. This one is just nice. I like it :9 The sweetness of the beetroot is cut by the saltiness from the cheese.
And then it went on with the main course. I had the chicken one and my boyfriend had the beef steak one.
The chicken is tasteless (it needs a serious seasoning!!) and rather cold (cold chicken? Omg…) However, the steak is quite good though.
Last is the dessert, which in fact is the best of all. I’m not saying this because I’m a dessert freak, but it’s the truth. The dessert is chocolate caramel tart. It’s a bit too sweet, but who cares? :p
BUT! I didn’t get to eat all of it :( because it was about time to go down. How sad is that? Best one, but the left one.

So that concludes all the 4-course dinner and probably the one question that pops to your mind is “Does it worth the price?”. For me, it does. But will I ever go for another round? The answer is No. 
This kind of thing worth trying, but I will not go for another one unless:
1. If it’s at somewhere with a very stunning view and, 
2. If I heard that they have changed their food quality. 
Because what I had experienced is bad food quality but great service and environment. So practically we paid for its view, service, and environment; although the view was only the twin tower… Plus, we seem pretty low when compared to the twin tower. Lol. I do wish that we could go higher :p Like seriously, it wasn’t high enough for me ;’D
So if you had never experienced this kind of thing before, thus I really recommend you to try at least once in a lifetime, so that you’ll know how does like to eat 50 meters above ground.

DIY Rose


Early 2015, I posted a handmade rose picture on my Instagram and ever since, I receive a lot of requests for the tutorial. First of all, I apologize if I took this long to post this up. Secondly, on the bright side, now it's up ;D
So as Mother's day (22 Dec) is coming, follows by Christmas, and Valentine's day on Feb, this handcrafted rose is perfect as a gift or a little something for your special ones.

Let's begin shall we?

Things you'll need:

1. Cut your paper as follow. Notice that the size of A and B is different. One is slightly wider than the other. 

2. Fold the smaller paper vertically 4 times and the bigger paper 3 times or as shown.

3. Draw the rose petal as follow and cut it out. Cut a straight line on 1/4 of the bottom part as well.

4. Using a stick, curl the bigger petals with the bottom part inwards and the upper part outwards. 

5. Stick double tape onto the bottom part of petals.

6. Starting with the smaller petals, roll one petal onto the stick. Keep rolling until the desired layer. For me, anywhere between 4-6 rolls are enough. Well, it depends on how big you want your rose to be.

7. Next is to roll on the bigger petals. The more petals you roll on, the bigger the rose will be. But remember not to over-do it because it might not stay as one in the end. Trust me, been there, done that. 

8. Last step is to cover the stick with the green ribbon. Use double tape to secure the ribbon.
AND YOUR HANDMADE ROSE IS DONE!

Make it as many as you want. You can also change the colour the paper or type of paper if you want. But i suggest it to be as elastic and lightweight as origami is. So it's easier for you to work with and minimize the chance of it becoming too heavy or torn.
If you're making a bunch of it, you can make a bouquet or probably put it into a vase or jars would do. What i did before is, I bought the stuffing for pillows and a very thin cloth from Daiso. Then, I stick the roses into a ball of the stuffing and wrapped it all up with the thin cloth and also tied it all up with a rubber band and ribbon. Anyway, the bouquet is given to my mom as a valentine's gift <3 Fyi, it took me hours or probably half day to make it... But it is worth the time ;)

11 Sins in KL

Hey there! I've finally compiled my top fave dessert places in KL for you hehehehe 
I've few other places that sold the same thing, but for now, I can safely say that listed are my favourite ones. From Pies, Chocolates, Cheesecakes, Ice creams, Waffles, to Cakes... You name it! – it is all written in this post!
I've included some of their information, too, for your easier references (You're welcome ;p)

A Pie Thing
Just like the name, it's definitely a "pie" thing, because once you had it, you would want to keep going back for more. 
Seriously, it happened to me. hehehehe
I honestly prefer their sweet pies over the savoury ones. However, it depends on one taste bud right?
I believe I've tried most of their sweet pies and my fave goes to the apple crumble pie
It's served with vanilla ice cream. Thus, the warmth from the apples pairs really well with the cold ice cream, plus the crunchiness from the crumbs is just the perfect thing to indulge.

Caffe Bene 
If you are looking for bingsu, this is the place.
I've tried each and every flavours and my top ones are coffee bingsu, pat (original) bingsu, and green tea bingsu. The level of sweetness is just nice because I think that most of the sugar is from the red bean paste and ice cream (if there is). 
I've tried bingsu from few other places, but I keep coming back to this particular cafe.
Not to forget of their waffles and toasts. Those are unforgettable, either. 
The waffles are dense yet crispy. It tastes quite different from the normal waffles you would have had before. MUST give it a try if you're a waffle lover!

Inside Scoop
Talking about waffle... if you're looking for a lighter and crispier buttermilk waffles served with ultimate ice cream flavours, then go to Inside Scoop. It's hands down the BEST waffle and ice cream pairing ever! The homemade waffle cones are TOO DIE FOR. 
My favourites are their pistachio and also valrhona chocolate ice cream. 
They have quite a number of outlets throughout KL, but I've always like the branch at Bangsar.

Levain Boulangerie & Patisserie
Want a small waffle to be eaten on-the-go? You could buy a bunch from here, keep it in your fridge and heat it up for few
seconds in the microwave and you're good to go! Their waffles are EXTREMELY delicious.
I bought it when they just done making it. So it was still warm.
My favourite goes to the almond waffle and the dark chocolate ones. Well, because I only tried those 2 before and
it was an easy decision to love them.So I bet that all of their waffles are as delicious too.

Jaslyn Cakes
Satisfying simple cakes are what it sells. So far, there's nothing that I don't like from this little cake shop located at Bangsar. It may be small, big it offers big and bold flavours that will leave you a big smile when you walked out of the door. Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake is so far the winner of my heart ;)

Delectable By Su
Another little cake shop that sells beautiful and delectable sweet treats, hence the name. 
The cakes will feed your eyes as well as your tongue. 
The cakes are not overly sweet, perfect to be paired with their selection of teas from BioGena, which is by far, my MOST FAVOURITE PEACH-FLAVOURED TEA EVER!! 
The smell of peaches will surround you as you brew it and when you take a sip, you will get the sweet taste of the peach not sugar sweet. Do you get what I mean? I'm bad at describing, thus, you should just try it yourself :p

I can see that this place is growing fast as it's loved by everyone. Well, who doesn't?
It's very obvious as you may step into their shop and feel like ordering every single thing they have.
No shame, it happened to me and my friends. 
But let me tell you something... DO NOT ATTEMPT to leave the shop without ordering the Chocolate Chip Cookies. 
It's a truly heart-breaker because it'll melt your heart ;D
It's served with a shot of milk and please guys, just dunk it in. DO NOT skip the step. There's a reason for it to be served accordingly.

Nana's Green Tea
It's so far the BEST GREEN TEA ice cream or soft serve I've had  in Kuala Lumpur.
Forget all about the calories in that one serving of parfait. If you have the space in your stomach, you'll find yourself dig it all up in the end. Promise you it'll be worth it.

Tous Les Jours
Any cakes or pastries you'll end up buying, you won't regret the choices you've made. Everything here is just as delish as it looks. Do try their lemon and poppyseed madeleines. It's really fluffy and moist with a strong hint from the lemon.

WHO LOVES CHEESECAKE?? I do!! But i prefer the soft, light and creamy textured cheesecake like those japan cheesecake, rather than the dense and rich NY cheesecake.
Komugi sells the BEST CHEESECAKE ever! Named Hanjuku Cheese - it's soft, light, and creamy just the way I like it. Its light texture doesn't mean it has light flavour... na-uh! It's surprisingly hearty with the bold cheese taste. It'll instantly melt in your mouth as soon as you bite into it... and guess what? YOU will melt with it.

Dip 'n Dip 
Calling all the CHOCOHOLICS out there! Come and check this place out to fix your chocolate craving. 
My most ordered dessert at this chocolate shop is Dip Crispies. Just like the name, Dip Crispies is served in a mug with lots of rice crispies and your choice of Belgian chocolate and topped with mini marshmallows. 
I would always, ALWAYS, go for dark chocolate. It's my all time favourite type of chocolate (now you know if you would ever buy me any chocolate cake/bar or whatnot :p)

SG #2 List Completed

26th October 2015 - I'm so sorry tummy.
So here's the Strawberry & Rhubarb Crumb Cake from Plain vanilla. 
Despite that it's a bit dry, the flavours are just perfect. A little bit sweet and tangy. And I love the texture, too. The spongy cake, the slightly chewy strawberry and rhubarb layer, and the crunchy crumbs. oh dayummmm :9


So our plan for the day is to go to Bugis to buy churros from the newly open Churro101 ì¸„러스.
As planned, we went to Bugis but we didn't go to the churros place straightaway. We headed to the food hall instead and found these amazing snacks.
We tried the chocolate fudge cinnamon rolls from Star Cinnamon. Verdict: It tastes very normal. But the bread is soft and it's not overly sweet. 

Next, we found this Tornado Fries from Yellow Submarine. It's french fries with cheese sauce!!!
Verdict? YOU SHOULD REALLY TRY THIS. I SWEAR IT'S SO GOOD. Forget about the calories it contains, you would want to lick it all up when the fries are gone. (no, i didn't do it) lol

And now the main star... the CHURROS. 
I bought one dipped with dark chocolate and the another one filled with cream cheese. OH SO GOOD. 

Churros lovers, please go to Singapore for this. I think I might do that one day hahahaha
Yes i know the queue is super long (not sure for now, but it was), however, If you are around there and you MUST try it. Even though you're not a churro lover, you really must try it as well. It'll change your mind ;)

As if we were not full yet, we headed to Brother BirdIt's a walking distance from Bugis, so we thought, why not? Since we were already there.
We ordered the famous Mochi Donut with Cookie Butter Softserve. I wanted to try the liusa donuts as well, but it was not available.
 

Okay, from the presentation itself is definitely very alluring. The softserve looks like a magical unicorn poop. LOL
But taste wise? It's extremely sweet. Even for a sweet lover like me, this is over the top. I couldn't eat very much of it. For the cookie butter softserve, I'm sorry but I don't taste anything. It's just like a normal tasteless softserve. Will I come back to try the liusa? Errrr, I doubt so.

We went back to Orchard to meet up with Peter, Nikita, and Futari. Because the sisters hadn't had their lunch, we went to Ippudo. 


For me, as I'm not a ramen fan or even soup fan, it's just right. But the gua bao or mantou or whatever the called it, it melts in your mouth. Well, actually it's the pork belly that melts in your mouth. hehehe. Although I was very full, I can still safely say that the gua bao is very recommended.  


After well stuffed, we visited Nikita and Peter's place. We chilled for a while before heading to Clarke Quay. It was an impromptu plan when Futari asked to accompany her for the GX5 Extreme Swing ride. 


The ride was... very intense when you were hung at the top, forced to look down because the thing was at 45degrees angle and you have to push the release button by yourself.... but after you push the button, you would feel very relieve. It's like distressing. Seriously, it is just like a swing but in a giant form. 
And after that ride, I was triggered to ride the other ride, GMAX Reverse Bungy. Well, Nikita and Peter convinced that this one isn't scary at all... but in my opinion, this one is way way scarier (thanks a lot guys lol). You were thrown to the air and it will bounce back and you'll go up and down until it stables off. 
But it was a great experience, though. I would totally recommend you to ride it if you're not a fainthearted. 

Back to Orchard, we indulged in desserts after screaming out the fats lol (i wish it could happen ;'D)
Waffle, Chocolate lava cake and Chocolate souffle from Laurent's cafe aren't comparable to chocolates from Max Brenner or Awfully Chocolate. We all agree that the souffle tastes the best, other than that, meh...


Oh no, it wasn't our dinner. HAHAHA. Main course after dessert? Who else does that? ;)
Went over to Nikita's place again and ordered the salted egg yolk chicken rice.


DAMN... Where have I had been?!?! I regretted that I ate the desserts earlier... I could have just save the space for this if only I knew... If I ever go to Singapore anytime in the future, I would definitely eat this and NO SHARING PLEASE ;p 

As what other girls would do, we gossiped and also looked at our old pictures ;D seriously, when you look back to what you looked like or what you did, it is unbelievably hilarious. Am I right?

27 October 2015 - I'm addicted to...

So it's finally the last day and I'm surprised of how much food we got to try within these few days. Before this trip, I wrote down places I wanted to try and I thought that I wouldn't be able to eat that much, or try as much. But it turns out we ate more than the ones from the list. Amazing right? hahaha


Had our lunch at PS Cafe and ordered a very unique pasta, Laksa Pasta. As unique as it sounds, flavour-wise isn't my forte. It has a very strong taste and also, smell, of something which I can't remember. And I ordered the sticky date pudding and I don't like it. It's just too freaking sweet.


I didn't eat all of it because I couldn't (TOO SWEET). After PS Cafe, we walked over to Takashimaya foodcourt and had another stick of ToriQ's chicken balls and pumpkin croquette(?).


Next was the S$1 ice cream, red bean flavour (my fave). 


I found this gyoza place which has mentai gyoza. Sounds very tasty right?
So, we tried it out and guess what? It's wayyyyyyy too salty. First I had something toooo sweet, and now this, toooo salty. 


We were finally full by eating a bit of here and there. While waiting for the time to go to the airport, we just wandered around the malls. And when it was time to go... oh yes, I bought another llaollao for myself :9 Though I was superb full, but I couldn't leave Singapore without another llaollao. So there I was, begin and end the trip with llaollao.
